Keep in touch

Once your child/young person joins the banding family, you automatically become a member of the Association.  We would like to keep in touch with you about concert arrangements and other updates throughout your young person’s band journey.  If you are happy for us to do so please indicate this on the family form. We would also like to invite you to join our closed Facebook parents group https://www.facebook.com/groups/hcybparents. 

BAND UNIFORM

Band uniform is usually required for performances. These are:

• Black school shoes
• Black school skirt and black tights, or black school trousers and black socks
• Band top: blue logoed polo shirt for Junior Band, white logoed shirt for Training Band, and black logoed shirt for County Band

For new band members, or anyone needing new uniform for the 2026/27 academic year, we will be announcing new a new uniform supplier shortly.

We also have some pre-loved tops which band members donate back to the Association as they move up or leave the bands, stock is fullest at the start of each academic year and popular sizes tend to go quite quickly – please speak to Jo Davage or any other committee member to check stock before ordering.

HCYBA Shop

The Association keeps a stock of branded merchandise. Parents and guests can order these by speaking to a committee member on a Saturday morning.

REFRESHMENTS

Unfortunately since our move to Barton Peveril College we currently are not able to supply refreshments, however the tuck shop will still be running at all concerts.

Time and expertise

We are always looking for people to get involved in running the charity; to support Saturday rehearsals and/or engagements at other venues throughout this year. The number of parents/guardians across the banding family means that, if we each commit to help for one event per year, all the jobs would be covered. It’s good to know up front where you might feel able to get involved, so tell us about that in the family form.

Financial Support to the charity

Our financial support to the three bands is so important. We fund the Endangered Species programme tutoring costs. We purchase music, contribute to venue, tour and event costs. Although we fundraise via a variety of means, including raffles, sale of refreshments and merchandise, we greatly benefit from families supporting the charity via an voluntary contribution of £60 per family (not per child); payable in September or via monthly standing order of £5.00 (we suggest the 10th of each month). 

We appreciate that, as parents, you already pay fees direct to Hampshire Music Service for the musical tuition and membership of the bands. But this support to the Association enables us to add those extras not covered by your HMS fees.  Please note on the family form how you intend to contribute.  Our bank details are:
